Accessibility

Making the festival accessible has been a priority since our beginnings in 2021!
Accessible for:
– People with reduced mobility.
– Since 2024, for people with hearing impairments, we offer vibrating vests for a complete musical experience. These vests are loaned for free and given priority to those in need, at the box office upon presentation of a RAMQ card with the corresponding logo. Volunteers fluent in Quebec Sign Language are present at the festival, as well as small writing boards and specific badges.
– For children, we offer ear protection headphones, available at the welcome desk against a valid ID.

We are always looking to improve inclusivity, so if you have any suggestions, please email us at market@focusfest.ca

Our Eco-Commitments

Since its creation, the non-profit organization that organizes the festival has made commitments to eco-responsibility, eco-sustainability, and inclusion. Here are the main points of our policy.
– Definitions:
ECO-RESPONSIBLE: This concept refers to all actions and behaviors adopted to reduce our negative impact on the environment. It involves considering environmental issues in our choices and decisions, prioritizing sustainable and nature-respecting practices. Eco-responsibility refers to a set of behaviors aligned with the principles of sustainable development. It is a voluntary commitment to preserving the planet and its resources for future generations.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: A development approach that takes a long-term perspective, integrating environmental and social constraints with the economy.

ECO-DURABLE: Defined as a midpoint between the two previous definitions. In practice, this means making conscious choices that consider the consequences on the environment and our health.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY: A systemic economic model. Concepts such as green economy, sharing economy, and performance-based economy are part of the circular economy.
Such an economy works in a loop, eliminating the notion of “waste.” Its goal is to produce goods and services while strongly limiting the consumption and waste of raw materials and non-renewable energy sources.
This also applies to choosing local partners and suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint, known as LOCAL ECONOMY.

3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. A philosophy aimed at reusing and/or transforming materials or objects to give them a second life, reducing waste production by recycling when they are no longer repairable or reusable.

Our actions:
– Managing material flows – “LOCAL AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY” through careful sourcing, sustaining reuse habits, and efficient waste management.
– Controlling and reducing our GHG emissions by increasing social impact, promoting alternative transportation options, wisely choosing transport for the team and artists, and considering these factors when selecting accommodations to make alternative and public transport more accessible. We also focus on energy-saving measures.
– Providing a festive space for all by continuing to develop tools to make the festival accessible to everyone – both for festival-goers with and without disabilities. Creating a “safe” space for all participants and offering a diverse and representative program.
– Lastly, continuous research and development to improve our practices and commitments.

Volunteer

Get involved in the festival!
Organizing and running a festival is a big challenge, and we couldn’t do it without the help of amazing volunteers.
JOIN THE FESTIVAL FOCUS VOLUNTEER TEAM
Send an email to benevolat.focusfest@gmail.com with a brief description of your skills, availability, and the areas where you’d like to help.

2025 EDITION | FUTURE VOLUNTEER TEAMS

For the setup and running of the Festival FOCUS, we will need the support of volunteers.
– FESTIVAL MEDICAL AID – act as first responders, if needed, for the event. Prevention, vigilance, and first aid.
– FESTIVAL DECOR – construction, installation, and dismantling of event decorations.
– SIGNAGE – greet festival-goers at various entry points in the municipality and direct them to designated parking areas.
– GREEN TEAM – ensure constant site cleanliness and guide festival-goers to recycling and waste bins.
– CAMPING – manage campground.
At all times, volunteers will assist or guide festival-goers.
Important to know for volunteering:
– Some volunteer positions require standing for 4 to 7 hours (e.g., parking) and carrying heavy loads. Also, some positions will be on the mountain during the event, so good physical condition is necessary for certain roles. For more information on these positions, write to benevolat.focusfest@gmail.com. We prioritize volunteers who are available for all 3 days of the festival.
Want to help?
Volunteer benefits include:
– A free 3-day pass to the event.
– A festival t-shirt (something you’ll want to wear again, not neon orange or green) for volunteers present all 3 days.
– One drink per shift for volunteers during the event.
– Volunteers will participate in a team raffle to win prizes from our partners and sponsors (while supplies last).

FOCUS FEST NPO

The Festival is organized and managed by the FOCUS Fest NPO.

The FOCUS Fest NPO, created in 2021, offers various cultural and tourism activities.
Its head office is based in Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard.

Imagined and created during the 2020 pandemic, its goal is to contribute to the tourism, cultural, and economic vitality of the Pays d’en Haut RCM and the greater Laurentians region by organizing major events like the FOCUS Festival and other local activities.

We are also committed to improving accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities within the cultural sector, for both the public and our volunteers, through various artistic projects in partnership with specialized organizations.
In practice, the FOCUS Festival is one of the few festivals in Quebec equipped with the technology to offer the deaf, hard-of-hearing, and neurodivergent communities the ability to experience music through vibrating vests that translate sound frequencies.

Since our founding, we have established a strong environmental policy and implement numerous initiatives to make all our projects eco-responsible.
The board of directors consists of founding and decision-making volunteer members, each with specific mandates.
After four editions in Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, the FOCUS Festival will be held starting in 2025 at Ski Chantecler in Sainte-Adèle, from August 29 to 31, 2025.
